Text Box: Most Artisan Flying Club members are IFR rated, and many of those not IFR rated on working on their IFR rating.

About half the members are previous full or partial owners of their own aircraft and joined Artisan already having experienced the pros and cons of private ownership.

The club has one member who is a flight instructor, and other flight instructors associated with local flight training operations are checked out in Club aircraft and available to members for training.

The Club is well suited to members working on advanced ratings—instrument, commercial, flight instructor, or ATP. Two members joined as student pilots and earned their private certificate with Artisan Flying Club in the past three years. The Club offers important advantages for flight training students not available at the local flight schools - the same, well maintained aircraft for every flight, easy scheduling and near constant availability. There is the added bonus of a hangered aircraft and the camaraderie and support of fellow members.

Artisan Flying Club members’ typical cross-country flight is a 200 to 600 mile trip for family events or vacations. Most members fly 30 to 60 hours per year, with some members doing substantially more than that.

We have a number of active Angel Flight pilots in our club. Our Angel Flight pilots have substantial experience flying our aircraft in the challenging Northeast ATC airspace and into busy airports like Logan, JFK, Dulles and Teterboro. This provides them experience in high traffic situations and provides the rest of us a source of knowledge we can draw upon when we're planning a similar flight. A number of our members wet their feet in a busy ATC environment by flying co-pilot on one of the club's Angel Flight missions.

Artisan members with Angel Flight fly into the world’s busiest airports, including JFK and Teterboro.
